If you are an immigrant or come from an immigrant family, there may not be many places where you can feel immersed in who you are. In fact, depending on your experiences with the dominant society’s messages about your home culture, you may actively avoid being immersed in who you are. Places where it is a guarantee that you can be immersed in who you are may be painful, uncomfortable, or embarrassing places for you. Where are the spaces where you can be immersed in who you are? Time with family? Special traditions or cultural holidays? And how do you feel about those spaces? What emotional responses do you have to those places?
