Affection Radiating from Lunches
As a child, have you ever wondered why your parents didn’t act like the parents you saw on TV? Or why your parents weren’t affectionate like the parents of your friends? Maybe you wished your parents would tell you “I love you” or “I’m proud of you” rather than the constant unending pressures of who they wanted you to become. In the midst of that wondering and wishing, did you also learn to see and receive love in different ways? What was that process like, learning to see and receive love and affection in ways other than expressive words? And what was it like when you felt the affection radiating from their food, their cooking, their attention, their actions? Looking back on that younger self now, how do you feel toward that child? Your parents?
